Description:

Sitagliptin phosphate monohydrate is the active pharmaceutical ingredient of Januvia which is used to treat diabets mellitus type II. It is an oral antihyperglycemic of the DPP-4 ( dipeptidy peptidase-4) inhibitor class. It is a white to off-white, non-hygroscopic crystalline powder soluble in water and DMF, slightly soluble in methanol. It is insoluble in isopropanol and isopropyl acetate. 

It was developed and is marketed by Merck & Co. (also known as MSD outside USA). Its brand drug Januvia annual sales in USA in 2016 is USD2.29 billion.
